Dawn was rescued from drowning in a flooded river when she was just a baby. Luckily, a true animal hero spotted her struggling in the water, bravely jumped in and pulled her to safety, risking his own life to save hers. 

After Dawn’s rescue, he successfully negotiated with the dairy farm owners for her release. Dawn was then transported to the sanctuary to recuperate and live her life free from the suffering and cruelty she would have otherwise endured within the dairy industry. Dawn is someone, not something.
