Turkey Team

Turkey Team

Most of our turkey team have been rescued from factory farms.  Like most farmed turkeys, they had already endured painful industry practices – having their beaks and toes cut off without any pain relief. At the factory farm, they lived in crowded conditions in a long windowless sheds without access to fresh air or natural behaviours. The only time they would have felt sun on their back would be on the slaughter trucks.

Their transformation at the sanctuary has been remarkable. From frightened young birds to confident residents, they’ve discovered the joy of natural turkey behaviours. They spend their days exploring the sanctuary grounds, taking dust baths, and napping in sunny spots. The team has grown quite social, often following volunteers around during their daily tasks.

Now living peacefully at the sanctuary, they enjoy fresh air, space to move freely, and the company of other rescued animals. Their presence helps educate visitors about the realities of factory farming and shows how engaging turkeys can be.
