Introducing Freddie

A few months ago we rescued a horse from rural NSW who arrived in such a severe state of neglect that we weren’t sure he would survive. Freddie had suffered long-term starvation.

From the moment Freddie arrived, we put every support in place. He was assessed by our vets, his teeth checked by our equine dentist, and his long-neglected hooves carefully treated by our farrier. Fortunately, blood tests came back relatively clear.

Bringing a starved animal back to health is slow, careful work. Feeding too much too soon can be fatal, so Freddie receives small, frequent meals while his body stabilises. Each day he receives four carefully measured feeds, supplements, constant access to good quality hay, and regular skin treatments to support his healing.

We expect it will take many months for him to fully regain condition, but he is already looking and feeling so much better. Freddie will live out his life here at the sanctuary, safe and free from harm.

If you’d like to help support Freddie’s recovery and the care of animals like him, please consider making a tax-deductible donation.
